The best sheet for holiday address labels
Neutral season's-greetings address labels for December cards that cover Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year and everyone on a mixed card list. Avery 8160 puts 30 labels on one US Letter sheet in 3 columns and 10 rows, which is why it is the default for holiday address labels here.
Each label is 2 5/8″ (66.7 mm) wide and 1″ (25.4 mm) tall, with a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) top margin and a 3/16″ (4.8 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the preset, “The Patel Family”, has 16 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 5 lines of 36 characters, at 8 pt about 6 lines of 45.
Compared with 8160: Avery 5160 has the same label area and the same count per sheet, Avery 5161 has 1.5× the label area and 20 instead of 30 labels per sheet and Avery 5162 has 2× the label area and 14 instead of 30 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your cards need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Design ideas for holiday address labels

-
Winter dots (preset)
Dots style in blue around centred text: seasonal without naming one holiday.
-
Silver frame
Frame style in a grey accent, left-aligned text, for cards that go to a mixed list.
-
Pine band
Band style in green; pairs with Christmas and New Year cards alike.
Tips for printing holiday address labels
- Blue and silver-grey accents read as “winter” without picking one holiday, which suits a mixed card list.
- If some cards are Christmas cards and some are not, print two designs on separate sheets: the sheet layout is the same, only the accent changes.
- For a long list, one 30-up sheet holds exactly 30 addresses, so the label count tells you how many sheets to buy.
- Check addresses against last year's returned envelopes before printing; reprinting one sheet costs less than re-mailing cards.
Print plan: holiday address labels for 25 to 150 cards
For 100 cards you need 4 sheets of 8160, with 20 labels left for next time; add 2 sheets of 5167 for the return address labels (80 per sheet). 150 cards fill whole 8160 sheets exactly. The plain-paper test costs no label sheet, so print it first.
| Cards | 8160 sheets (30/sheet) | Labels left over | Or 5161 sheets (20/sheet) | + 5167 sheets (return address labels) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 cards | 1 | 5 | 2 | 1 (2 sheets in all) |
| 50 cards | 2 | 10 | 3 | 1 (3 sheets in all) |
| 100 cards | 4 | 20 | 5 | 2 (6 sheets in all) |
| 150 cards | 5 | 0 | 8 | 2 (7 sheets in all) |
Will holiday address labels fit your envelopes?
A 1″ × 2 5/8″ label is 2 5/8″ long: centred on an A7 envelope (5 × 7 in cards) it covers 36 % of the 7 1/4″ width, and on the smallest size listed, A2 (5 3/4″ wide), 46 %. The 1″ × 4″ option from Avery 5161 is shown for comparison. Envelope sizes are the standard US dimensions, width × height as addressed.
| Envelope | Size | Holds | 8160 label (1″ × 2 5/8″) | 5161 label (1″ × 4″) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A2 | 5 3/4″ × 4 3/8″ | 4 1/4 × 5 1/2 in cards | 46 % of the width · 1 9/16″ each side | 70 % of the width · 7/8″ each side |
| A6 | 6 1/2″ × 4 3/4″ | 4 1/2 × 6 1/4 in cards | 40 % of the width · 1 15/16″ each side | 62 % of the width · 1 1/4″ each side |
| A7 | 7 1/4″ × 5 1/4″ | 5 × 7 in cards | 36 % of the width · 2 5/16″ each side | 55 % of the width · 1 5/8″ each side |
| A9 | 8 3/4″ × 5 3/4″ | 5 1/2 × 8 1/2 in cards | 30 % of the width · 3 1/16″ each side | 46 % of the width · 2 3/8″ each side |
| No. 10 | 9 1/2″ × 4 1/8″ | letters folded in thirds | 28 % of the width · 3 7/16″ each side | 42 % of the width · 2 3/4″ each side |
When to print holiday address labels
Christmas Day falls on Friday, December 25, 2026, 62 days after this page's data date (October 24, 2026). Labels print in minutes, so the timing that matters is when your cards have to be ready or in the mail.
If you mail cards, check your postal service's own published holiday mailing dates; they change every year and LabelGrid does not guess them. Print one test sheet on plain paper first: it shows scaling or alignment problems before they cost a label sheet.

Frequently asked questions
How do I print the Avery® 8160 holiday template?
Edit the pre-filled dotted-border design in the designer at the top of this page, download the PDF and print it at 100 % scale on US Letter Avery® 8160 or 5160 sheets. Print one plain-paper test first and hold it against a label sheet.
What size are holiday address labels?
LabelGrid's default for holiday address labels is 1″ × 2 5/8″ (Avery 8160, 30 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5160 at 1″ × 2 5/8″ (same size, different code), Avery 5161 at 1″ × 4″ and Avery 5162 at 1 1/3″ × 4″.
How many holiday address labels fit on one sheet?
30 on Avery 8160, 30 on Avery 5160, 20 on Avery 5161 and 14 on Avery 5162. For 120 cards at 1 label each you need 4 sheets of Avery 8160.
Can every label on the sheet be different?
Yes. The preset repeats one design on every label, which suits holiday address labels. For different text on each label, switch to merge mode and paste one row per label; the free version prints one full sheet per list.
When is Christmas Day?
The next Christmas Day after this page's data date (October 24, 2026) is Friday, December 25, 2026. Print a test sheet a few days before you need the cards, and check your postal service for mailing dates if you send them.
Why do my holiday address labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
