Avery 8160 in Canva, step by step
-
Create a sheet-sized design
Canva works per design, not per label, so start with Create a design › Custom size 8.5 × 11 in, the full US Letter sheet that holds 30 Avery 8160 labels.
-
Show rulers and guides
Turn on rulers and guides (under File or View settings, depending on your Canva version), then drag vertical guides from the ruler to the left label edges at 0.188 in, 2.938 in, 5.688 in; zoom in to place them precisely (each label is 2.625 in wide).
-
Add the row guides
Drag horizontal guides to the top label edges at 0.5 in, 1.5 in, 2.5 in … every 1 in … 9.5 in (each label is 1 in tall).
-
Design inside the boxes
Keep text at least 0.063 in inside every 8160 label edge; Canva has no snap-to-label, so check each of the 30 copies against the guides.
-
Export a print PDF
Download the 8160 sheet (Share › Download) as PDF Print with crop marks and bleed turned off, then print at 100 % (“Actual size”) on US Letter paper.
-
Or lay out the sheet with LabelGrid
Text-only 8160 labels are quicker in the designer above: it places all 30 positions for you. Images on labels are part of LabelGrid Pro.
Worked example: 25 Valentine's Day labels on 8160
25 labels on Avery 8160 fit on one page of 30 (5 boxes stay empty); for more, duplicate the finished page and make sure the guides at 0.188 in and 0.5 in are on every page.
In the LabelGrid designer the same 25 rows go into merge mode; the free version prints the first 30 (one full 8160 sheet) and Pro removes the limit. To reuse a part-used sheet, set the start position to the first empty label.

When 8160 labels print out of line in Canva
- The 8160 page shrinks when printed from the browser tab: print the downloaded PDF from a PDF viewer at Actual size instead.
- Designs sit a little off the 8160 die-cuts: snapping moved an element; zoom in and check it against the 0.188 in and 0.5 in guides.
- Text cut off on the first or last 8160 row: many printers leave about 1/4″ (6 mm) unprinted, and 8160 has 0.5 in at the top and 0.5 in at the bottom, so keep Canva text 0.063 in inside each label.
- 8160 sheets are made for inkjet printers: if the printer settings in the print dialog of your PDF viewer offer a label or heavy-paper media type, pick it, and let the ink dry for a minute before you stack the sheets or peel the first label.
About the Avery 8160 sheet
Avery® 8160 (address labels) has 30 labels of 1″ × 2 5/8″ per US Letter sheet. 8160 is the inkjet version of 5160; both share one layout, so a 5160 template prints on 8160 sheets. The same layout is sold under other Avery codes too (5160, 5260, 5510, 5520, 5560, 5810 and more), so these settings work for them as well.
Common jobs for 8160: Halloween address labels, Christmas address labels, Christmas card address labels, holiday address labels and Valentine's Day labels. Avery® 8160 is named only to identify compatible sheets; LabelGrid is not affiliated with Avery.
