How to print Avery® 8160 labels in Apple Pages

Avery 8160 in Apple Pages, step by step
-
Fastest: print an aligned PDF
Pages does not ship an Avery 8160 template. Make the 8160 labels in the designer at the top of this page, download the PDF and print it from Preview with Scale set to 100 %.
-
Set up the document
To build the 8160 layout in Pages, create a Blank word-processing document. In the Document sidebar choose US Letter paper, turn off header and footer, and set the document margins: top 0.5 in, bottom 0, left 0.188 in, right 0.188 in. The bottom margin stays at 0 on purpose: the 10 table rows already place every label, and the empty paragraph that always follows a table then fits in the 0.5 in below the last row instead of starting a blank second page.
-
Add a 5-column table
Click Table in the toolbar, then give the 8160 grid 5 columns and 10 rows (use the handles at the table's edges or the Table menu) and set header and footer rows to none in the Table tab of the Format sidebar; the even columns are spacers between the 3 label columns.
-
Enter the exact sizes
Select the columns, then in the Format sidebar's Table tab, under Row & Column Size, set the widths to 2.625 in, 0.125 in, 2.625 in, 0.125 in, 2.625 in and the row height to 1 in for every row. Turn the table outline and gridlines off in the same tab.
-
Fill the 30 cells
Type into each cell (about 5 lines at 10 pt fit) and copy finished cells to the other 8160 positions. For address lists, the macOS Contacts app can also print mailing labels from a contact group with Avery layouts in its print dialog.
-
Print 8160 at 100 %
File › Print with US Letter paper and 100 % scaling; on a plain-paper test the 3 columns of 8160 should start 0.188 in from the left edge.
Worked example: 25 Valentine's Day labels on 8160
One Pages table holds 30 Avery 8160 labels, so 25 labels fit on one page with 5 cells left empty. Check that each copy still starts 0.5 in from the top.
In the LabelGrid designer the same 25 rows go into merge mode; the free version prints the first 30 (one full 8160 sheet) and Pro removes the limit. To reuse a part-used sheet, set the start position to the first empty label.

When 8160 labels print out of line in Apple Pages
- The 8160 table grows past the page: a cell has more text than its 1 in height allows; Pages enlarges the row instead of clipping, so cut a line or shrink the type.
- Preview prints the PDF smaller than the 8160 sheet: in the print dialog choose Scale 100 % instead of “Scale to fit”.
- In Apple Pages, 8160 labels that drift more the lower they are mean the page was scaled: at 97 % row 10, 10.5 in from the top, lands about 0.315 in off. Print at 100 %.
- 8160 sheets are made for inkjet printers: if the printer settings in the print dialog of Apple Pages offer a label or heavy-paper media type, pick it, and let the ink dry for a minute before you stack the sheets or peel the first label.
About the Avery 8160 sheet
Avery® 8160 (address labels) has 30 labels of 1″ × 2 5/8″ per US Letter sheet. 8160 is the inkjet version of 5160; both share one layout, so a 5160 template prints on 8160 sheets. The same layout is sold under other Avery codes too (5160, 5260, 5510, 5520, 5560, 5810 and more), so these settings work for them as well.
Common jobs for 8160: Halloween address labels, Christmas address labels, Christmas card address labels, holiday address labels and Valentine's Day labels. Avery® 8160 is named only to identify compatible sheets; LabelGrid is not affiliated with Avery.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an Avery 8160 template for Pages?
Pages does not include one. A 5 × 10 table with the exact sizes above works, or print the aligned PDF from LabelGrid with Preview at 100 %.
What are the measurements of Avery 8160?
30 labels of 2.625 in × 1 in on US Letter, 3 across and 10 down. In Pages: document margins 0.5 in top and 0.188 in left, 5 table columns.
Why do my 8160 labels from Apple Pages drift down the page?
Either a table row grew past 1 in or Preview scaled the page; at 97 % the last row moves about 0.315 in. Print at 100 %.
Can I skip Apple Pages entirely?
Yes. The LabelGrid designer at the top of this page is set to Avery 8160: type one label or paste a list and download a PDF aligned to all 30 positions, free and in your browser.
