Avery 5395 in Canva, step by step

  1. Create a sheet-sized design

Canva works per design, not per label, so start with Create a design › Custom size 8.5 × 11 in, the full US Letter sheet that holds 8 Avery 5395 labels.

  2. Show rulers and guides

Turn on rulers and guides (under File or View settings, depending on your Canva version), then drag vertical guides from the ruler to the left label edges at 0.688 in, 4.438 in; zoom in to place them precisely (each label is 3.375 in wide).

  3. Add the row guides

Drag horizontal guides to the top label edges at 0.563 in, 3.083 in, 5.603 in, 8.124 in (each label is 2.333 in tall).

  4. Design inside the boxes

Keep text at least 0.063 in inside every 5395 label edge; Canva has no snap-to-label, so check each of the 8 copies against the guides.

  5. Export a print PDF

Download the 5395 sheet (Share › Download) as PDF Print with crop marks and bleed turned off, then print at 100 % (“Actual size”) on US Letter paper.

  6. Or lay out the sheet with LabelGrid

Text-only 5395 labels are quicker in the designer above: it places all 8 positions for you. Images on labels are part of LabelGrid Pro.

Worked example: 80 name badge labels on 5395

80 labels on Avery 5395 need 10 pages of 8: duplicate the finished page 9 times, change the text on each copy and make sure the guides at 0.688 in and 0.563 in are on every page.

In the LabelGrid designer the same 80 rows go into merge mode; the free version prints the first 8 (one full 5395 sheet) and Pro removes the limit. To reuse a part-used sheet, set the start position to the first empty label.

When 5395 labels print out of line in Canva

  • The 5395 page shrinks when printed from the browser tab: print the downloaded PDF from a PDF viewer at Actual size instead.
  • Designs sit a little off the 5395 die-cuts: snapping moved an element; zoom in and check it against the 0.688 in and 0.563 in guides.
  • If every 5395 label printed from Canva is off by the same amount, the printer feeds off-centre: add the measured offset to the 0.563 in top or 0.688 in side margin, or use the LabelGrid printer offset.
