The best sheet for moving box labels
Labels for moving boxes: destination room, contents and box number, big enough to read across a room. Avery 5164 puts 6 labels on one US Letter sheet in 2 columns and 3 rows, which is why it is the default for moving box labels here.
Each label is 4″ (101.6 mm) wide and 3 1/3″ (84.7 mm) tall, with a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) top margin and a 0.156″ (4 mm) side margin on the sheet. The longest line of the first sample row, “Box 1 · plates & bowls”, has 22 characters; at 10 pt one label holds about 18 lines of 54 characters, at 8 pt about 23 lines of 67.
Compared with 5164: Avery 5168 has 1.3× the label area and 4 instead of 6 labels per sheet and Avery 5163 has 60 % of the label area and 10 instead of 6 labels per sheet. Pick the larger labels when your boxes need bigger type, the smaller ones when you print many.

Tips for printing moving box labels
- Label two sides of every box (top and one side) so you can read it when boxes are stacked.
- Number boxes and keep a list of contents per number; the label only needs the room and the number.
- Use one accent colour per room and put a matching label on each room's door at the new home.
- Cardboard dust weakens adhesive; wipe the spot before sticking.
How many sheets for your boxes
2 labels per boxe (for example front and back). For 40 boxes on Avery 5164 you need 14 sheets and 4 labels stay blank for next time (use the start position to skip them later).

What size are moving box labels?
LabelGrid's default for moving box labels is 3 1/3″ × 4″ (Avery 5164, 6 per sheet). Other sheets that fit: Avery 5168 at 3 1/2″ × 5″ and Avery 5163 at 2″ × 4″.
How many moving box labels fit on one sheet?
6 on Avery 5164, 4 on Avery 5168 and 10 on Avery 5163. For 80 boxes at 2 labels each you need 27 sheets of Avery 5164.
Can I print moving box labels from a spreadsheet list?
Yes. Switch the designer to merge mode, paste your rows with a header (Box) and each row becomes one label; placeholders like {Box} pull the values in. The free version prints one full sheet per list.
Why do my moving box labels print out of line?
Check the print dialog first: “fit to page” or any scale other than 100 % shrinks the sheet, and the labels drift. Choose “Actual size” or 100 % scale, the right paper (US Letter) and no “fit to page”. If every label is off by the same amount, use the printer offset in the designer to nudge the whole sheet.
